Lisa and I are heading up to Western Sydney this sunday to start UNOH Sydney and the MacCartney’s are joining the UNOH team in the slums of Bangkok on the same day.
Chris and I both have two young daughters and as we were preparing to leave we got news reports about the New Years Eve Bombings in Bangkok. Some of the fatal bombs were detonated in the Klong Toey Slum (where the Barkers and Rod Sheard live).
Then we received the news that right in the very place that we are praying about, (actually the very street!) there was a street riot between two feuding families:

Sometimes God confirms things in very strange ways for those of us seeking to be a part of revealing God’s light were it appears the darkest.
All prayers are deeply appreciated!
Blessed are the Peacemakers…that’s no easy task…

Our Prayers will be with all of you… These things seem to happen don’t they, when we step out in faith… part of me wonders if it is God just giving us one last test to make sure we are really committed, part of me wonders if it is the other guy trying to scare us off - either way it is great to see it strengthen your resolve! - we love you guys and look forward to hearing about your adventures - go wild!!!

Blessings Lisa and Jon and K&K! My neighbourhood is pretty rough too, but a pastor shared something with me once that changed my perspective. He said something like, “If the Christians are too afraid to go into those neighborhoods, then that gives the impression that God doesn’t want to go into those neighborhoods.” We have book by our ministry called “Jesus doesn’t live in Brooklyn” taken from a kid who said Jesus doesn’t live in his neighborhood because of all the crazy things that happen. And the rapper Tupac also shed light on it for me, maknig me realize that just because you live in the midst of violence and chaos doesn’t make you immune to it or less scared. The mom and her kids who live there are just as frightened as I would be.
Anyway, exciting times for UNOH!
