Richard Rohr is proving to be very popular!

UNOH is offering 3 two-day intensives this year: the 1st in May with the Duncan’s, the 2nd in July with Richard Rohr, and the 3rd in October with the Sine’s.

People are registering for all three but clearly the one that is gaining the most interest is the July seminar with Richard Rohr. Richard is a Franciscan priest and is the founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He does what the seminar title is all about: both “Spirituality and Justice”. We can only take a maximum of 150 people to any seminar, and the Rohr one is already half filled. If you want to come along, please let us know as soon as possible!

And while mentioning the seminars, the other two are going to be fantastic too. The Duncan’s are speaking on “Rebuilding at risk lives and communities” and the Sines are speaking on “A Revolution of Hope: Changing the world one mustard seed at a time”.

If a person registers for any one seminar, each is $80. But if you register for all three, you only have to pay $200 total.

The actual dates for all three seminars:
8, 9 May (Friday and Saturday)
24, 25 July (Friday and Saturday)
9,10 October (Friday and Saturday)

All three are being held at the UNOH center at 6-12 Airlie Avenue Dandenong.

To register, ring UNOH on 03-97017114 and speak to Sarah or Russell (any week day except Wednesday). Or email Jim on jim@unoh.org;

If you are looking to stay overnight for any of the two day seminars, there is a Formulae 1 Motel just around the corner on the Princess Highway, about 8 minutes walk from us. Their number is 03-97085121. The charge about $65 a night, but if you say you are coming for a UNOH function (just around the corner) then you can remind them that the manager promised a small discount to people staying for UNOH events.

If you are thinking about Submerge 09….

The UNOH course will change your life.

Some groups say “give me a gap year” or “let us have one year of your life” …. well…. I can understand them saying that, but to be honest, we don’t just want that. We run a one year program, true, but we really want the rest of your life. It might not be serving with UNOH (though it might be). But what you do during the year of Submerge, will change your life. Even if you don’t stick around with us after the year, you will be infected. The virus will have got into your blood. You will be a different person: someone who cares for the poor and marginalized that bit more; someone who has skills and practice at serving the poor and vulnerable in our community. You will be changed.

So we make no apologies for what we are asking of you. We want your life. All of it. One way or the other. Either with UNOH or not with us - but people molded a bit more into the image of Jesus, and people who are therefore passionately concerned with the poor, with addicts, with prostitutes, with refugees and asylum seekers, with those with mental illness, with anyone at the bottom of the ladder in our society.

There are still places left for Submerge 09. We are prepared to take up to 15 students but most likely it will be about 12 who end up doing it with us. There are still some spots left if you are thinking it could be for you.

Contact me to talk more about it: Jim on 0425-752358 or jim@unoh.org;
