TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS
UNOH has the capacity to provide tax-deductibility for most donations. We are happy to provide tax-deductibility wherever we can. However, where donations are made without the requirement for tax-deductibility, UNOH has more flexibility in the use these donations. For example, we cannot use donations that have been given tax-deductibility, for activities that might be interpreted as “evangelism”, not all work in poverty relief is considered eligible for tax-deductibility, especially where we might be assisting individuals rather than doing community development.
As our workers in Australia are considered religious workers, we are not able to issue a tax deductible receipt for donations which are for payment of living expenses of Australian workers.
If you do not normally claim such donations as tax deductions when you do your income tax return, or if you do not earn enough the have to pay tax, then nominating NO for tax-deductibility is a good choice for UNOH and no cost to you. Moreover, you might simply choose to forego tax-deductibility in order to provide greater flexibility for UNOH in spending your donation.
NZ Donations
For those in NZ who want to donate to UNOH in NZ dollars, if you donate through UNOH Australia, you will incur a fee for foreign exchange and will not be able to claim a tax receipt because the donation will go to Australia (not NZ). If you would like to donate direct to UNOH NZ, please click here.
