Hope In Unexpected Places

“Everything that is done in this world is done by hope!”
– Martin Luther

Christmas is just around the corner in a year that seems like it almost never got started. 2020 has definitely been a strange year filled with pandemics, lockdowns, fear, hopelessness and uncertainty. We have been forced to stop and think about life in a whole different way, one that has seen us change much of how we do life. I can’t help but think that the chaos of this year is in fact much like the chaos in which Jesus came into the world.

In a world of darkness, Jesus surprised us with hope in the most unexpected of places and circumstances. A king was born into a messy, chaotic manger, showing us that hope and joy can surprise us where we least expect it. Christmas is a time to celebrate, to hope, to be reminded we are part of something much greater than the daily grind. Hope comes in all shapes and sizes, even in the most unexpected places.

Seeking to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, UNOH exists to love God and love neighbour in marginalised neighbourhoods in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. Each day we embrace the entangling of heartache and joy to uncover hope in unexpected places. It is our joy to join with the creator of hope in our neighbourhoods and see stories of hope emerge. There are many untold stories from our neighbourhoods of finding hope in unexpected places. One of these stories is the story of Pi Noi (UNOH Thailand Foundation Senior Administrator) & her son Bart. You can meet them in the video below and find out what hope in unexpected places can look like!

This Christmas join with us in praying hope will be found where we least expect it, and may we all share that hope with our neighbours wherever we are.

Please support our Christmas Appeal and pray for us into this next year!

We are hoping to raise $20,000AUD to support UNOH Thailand, particularly to fund Bart’s special needs schooling for a year as well as our Thailand local admin staff. Our local staff play a vital role in running our foundation, assisting UNOH workers to love God and love neighbour in their neighbourhoods and empowering local leaders. Any gift would make such a difference, and enable us to continue to uncover hope in unexpected places.

Thank you so much for standing with our UNOH team and neighbourhoods to see God’s kingdom come here on earth in this mess of a year we call 2020. We could not do what we do without you joining with us. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the gifts of prayer, love, kindness, encouragement and financial support. We look forward to sharing more stories of hope in 2021.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year from our UNOH family to you!
